Cesar Bernal started on the mound for the Royals in the first game, pitching a complete game for the win. The game was called after the fifth inning due to the ten-run rule.
Dakota Hoyt, Edgar Millan, Ryne Dolleslager, and Jacob Zach all drove in the runs in the first inning to give the Royals a 4-0 lead that they never looked back from, and the Royals led 9-2 after four innings.
The second game was a different story, as this time it was the Jacks pitcher who went the distance for the win.
However, Royals pitcher Bryce Karl was rolling along until giving up three runs in the fifth inning, at which point he was pulled for reliever Jon Lund.
In fact, the Royals had a 2-0 lead going into the third inning, but an RBI knock and an error allowed Bottineau to tie it up 2-2. Unfortunately for the Royals, the four run fifth inning was the deciding factor in the loss, though they put up a run in the sixth to come within one, 4-3.
The Royals travel to Bottineau for another doubleheader tilt Wednesday night.
