The Royals baseball team went 1-1 on day one down in Arkansas.
Game 1: LRSC 5 Anoka Ramsey 6
It was a great game today from the boys, with only practices in a gym and some work in the cages under their belt. The Royals came out with a great feel and confidence. They made some solid plays in the field and got some really good innings from the mound. Cesar Bernal pitched an incredible game. Anoka Ramsey gained a little confidence in the 7th after they had been down all afternoon. They gained a little momentum and found the holes in the field that they had struggled too all day. They scored 4 runs in the bottom of the 7th to take the game away from the Royas.
The team had great approaches at the plate and scored five runs with putting pressure on the fielders and making them make mistakes. The Royals tried to take adcantage of every opportunity and make the most of them. Jeremy Moran had 2 RBIs for the game.
Game 2: LRSC 3 Northern Arkansas 2
It is always hard to step into a game when the opposing team has already played 18 games on the year. However, that did not stop the Royals despite coming off a tough loss, they came out firing. Jeremy Moran started it all off by getting a hit in the first at bat of the game, giving confidence to everyone that we can do it. Offense came from all over with plenty of Royals getting in on the action with hits of their own. Dakota Hoyt got on base three times leading our offense from the front.
The Royals had another great defense and pitching game, with Ryan Clark throwing a complete game"I am extremely proud of our defense and pitching in these last two games," said Head Coach Kyal Williams.
I am, "Really happy with our fielding making no errors in two games, is something a coach loves especially when we were unable to take real ground ball at school."
When asked about his first career win and the teams first win of the year Coach Williams said, "It just feels like a great weight off my shoulders and especially the boys, knowing that what we were working on hard in the gym and cages paid off"
"Really proud of how we come back after a touch loss to playing harder the next game"
