Mission and Goals
Lake Region State College Athletics Mission
Lake Region State College (LRSC) considers athletics an integral component of the college community and thus follows the LRSC institutional mission. The drive for excellence in athletics is equal to the academic mission of the college to achieve greatness in teaching and service. This commitment to excellence in athletics implies that LRSC will provide excellent leadership with appropriate facilities and support services to allow its student-athletes to compete at the highest level of intercollegiate competition plus to reach their objectives in educational and academic growth.
Lake Region State College Athletics believes the student athlete should represent themselves the same as the general student body, with like academic credentials and the same chance of success. The individual rights, welfare and academic goals of the student athlete should not be compromised by the College's desire to conduct successful athletic programs. Participation in athletic programs, while supplementing the student's formal education, should progress to the formation of a well-rounded, more open-minded individual.
Integrity is crucial to the athletics’ program. Without integrity the true meaning of sport is lost. LRSC believes that administrators, coaches, and student athletes, in concert with all members of the Institutions’ community, must share a total obligation to follow the rules and regulations of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA), the Mon-Dak Athletic Conference, and Lake Region State College, in their effort to be successful.
Lake Region State College Athletics follows the National Junior College Athletic Association's rules and regulations believing that student-athletes, coaches and staff should adhere to such fundamental values as respect, equality, civility, truthfulness and accountability. The commitment to nondiscrimination, equal opportunity, and affirmative action is a primary goal. Lake Region State College Athletic Dept. Goals
I. To provide Student-Athletes with a quality education that will prepare them for their future after graduation or completion of a certificate or degree.
a. To achieve this goal the athletic department will do all that is possible within the rules to give student-athletes every resource available to be successful in and out of the classroom. It is a goal of the department to have a graduation/completion rate of 100% for its student athletes.
II. To operate the athletic department within the rules and codes of conduct established by the NJCAA, the Mon-Dak Conference, and Lake Region State College.
a. To achieve this goal, all infractions will be reported immediately to the appropriate officers.
III. To represent Lake Region State College with excellence and stellar conduct.
IV. To follow fiscal management practices that are sound and utilize revenue opportunities that present themselves.
a. To achieve this goal, the coaches and administration will follow a budgeting system that is understood and followed to achieve a high level of fiscal integrity. It is vital that the athletic department excel to be self-sufficient and to capitalize on the revenue opportunities to insure growth within the Mon-Dak conference.
V. To compete for championships in the conference and nation.
a. To achieve this goal, coaches and administration must work together to provide the support plus resources needed to accomplish this goal. Dedicating time, resources, and effort, the expectation will be to compete for championships.
